Ogun state police command has announced that they currently have in their custody one Olanshile Nasirudden, 47, for allegedly stabbing one Jimoh Nasirudeen, her husband to death for impregnating another woman.
The suspect committed the crime during a heated argument with her deceased husband on Wednesday in Ijebu- Ode.
Toktok9ja gathered that Olanshile was the fourth wife to the victim who reportedly killed him for impregnating another woman.
It was also revealed that the woman who was also a butcher, worked in the same abattoir with the deceased.
The suspect reportedly got infuriated during an argument over a plan by the deceased to take another wife.
DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Ogun state police command disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.
The PPRO disclosed that the suspect stabbed the deceased at the back joint of his left leg, thereby cutting one of his veins.
He narrated the couple were involved in an argument and the suspect reportedly asked her deceased husband why he impregnated another woman.
Oyeyemi said, ” The arguments led to the suspect picking a knife and stabbing the deceased in the achilles tendon of his left leg, thereby, cutting one of his veins.
The deceased was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital and was administered a first aid treatment before he was later transferred to Ijebu- Ode General hospital where he eventually died while receiving treatment.
The DPO Obalende division, SP Murphy Salami, responding to a distress call, led his men to the scene but the suspect had fled before their arrival’ ‘ , Oyeyemi added.
The PPRO further stated that ” The suspect was subsequently tracked and was finally apprehended in her hideout at Mobalufon area of Ijebu- Ode.
The suspect, who happened to be the fourth wife of the deceased, upon interrogation alleged that it was her husband who first slapped her just because she questioned his new wife about her mission at her market stand.
After an autopsy was conducted on the corpse of the deceased, it was released to the family for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.
The Police Public Relations Officer disclosed that Edward Ajogun, the commissioner of Police, has directed that the suspect should be transferred to the homicide section of the state Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCID) for a discreet investigation and prosecution.
