Supreme Court Judgement on Sokoto, Kano, Bauchi and Plateau State Election Appeal

As earlier reported, the Supreme Court Monday pronounced judgement in appeals filed over governorship elections in Kano, Sokoto, Bauchi and Plateau states.

On the appeals over Kano State guber poll, the Supreme Court judgement, in an unanimous decision by a seven-man panel, declared that Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was rightly elected.

The apex court said the the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) could not prove any irregularities.

In the case of Sokoto State, the Supreme Court’s seven-man panel also unanimously pronounced Governor Aminu Tambuwal of PDP as eligibly elected governor of the state.

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, of PDP also retained his position as the duely elected governor at the March 2019 governorship poll in the state.

In the case of Plateau State, Governor Simon Lalong of APC was declared the right winner of the gubernatorial election conducted in the state on March 19, 2020.
