VIDEO: Protests Erupt In Ibadan Over Economic Hardship in Nigeria.
The streets of Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, have witnessed a surge of protests against the worsening economic conditions in Nigeria.
Residents took to the streets, brandishing placards bearing messages demanding an end to bad governance, as they voiced their grievances against the current administration.
The demonstrations started Mokola area of the state, where crowds gathered to express their dissatisfaction with the economic policies and leadership under President Tinubu. Chants in the Yoruba language show the level of hunger and suffering endured by Nigerians. Many of them were heard saying they were hungry and tired and earnestly wanted a change.
Adding fuel to the fire, President Tinubu’s son, Sayi, made a plea for patience from Nigerians, following controversy surrounding his lavish lifestyle, including being spotted with an 800 million Naira wristwatch.
The economic situation in Nigeria paints a dire picture, with skyrocketing prices of essential goods, particularly food, and soaring levels of inflation and unemployment. The decision by President Tinubu to remove fuel subsidies and float the Naira has only exacerbated these issues, leading to a rapid depreciation of the currency.
The voices of the people, weary of broken promises and ineffective policies, ring loud and clear, demanding a fairer and better future for all Nigerians.
