Can A Divorce Person Remarry When The Other Partner Is Still Alive? – Rev Fred Igho Clarifies
A Nigerian gospel preacher reverend Fred Igho the founder and senior pastor of king’s Life Ministry in a video uploaded on Facebook a few days ago, made clarity on the question, “can a divorced person remarry when the other partner is still alive?”.
The issue of divorce does not go down well with the Christian faith, and that is why divorce remains one of the most controversial topics in Christendom. However, reverend Fred answered one of the common questions in Christianity on divorce. Can a divorced person remarry when the other partner is still alive?
The cleric said the answer to this particular question is very simple and it’s a yes, but it comes with a condition. He stated that Jesus taught (Matthew 5:31-32, Luke 16:18, Mark 10:2-3) that a man or woman cannot divorce his or her partner unless there is adultery. He also made known that if the partner is cheating, that is the only ground to break the marriage with him or her, and the person who walks out of the relationship because his or her partner cheated is not under bondage not to remarry again.
He went on to say that the bible does not teach either a man or a woman to stay in a marriage if one of the partners is cheating.
He said when the husband or wife goes out of marriage, because of that, he is actually protecting himself or herself. However, he clarified that they don’t recommend that because if somebody cheated, the partner should just walk out.
