My Journey As A Body Builder, People Often Tell Me My Body is Disgusting, But I Kept On Going – Mary
Ghanaian/Nigerian female bodybuilder, Mary Got Fit has recently spoken about her journey as a female bodybuilder and the struggles that comes with it.
Speaking in a recent interview with BBC Online News Pidgin, Mary narrated that she suffers many negative comments from people because of her body structure and looks. She added that some people even tell her that she is disgusting and this always pains her bones but she always gets over them and moves on.
Backlash on her body looks gets so intense when she tries to appear in women’s clothes but many still criticized and even say that she is deforming her body.
In her words, “Some people tell me that my body is disgusting, that my mum wasted 9 months of hard labour and suffering to give birth to me for me to be like this. It always pains me even down to my bones because I am a human being also but I still move forward and push on.
People can be very hard with what they say but I cannot beat them or else I will invite negative reactions to myself. My people see me for the first time, and they feel irritated. I also get discouraging comments when I wear girl’s clothes. They feel I am deforming myself.”
Mary is one of the biggest female bodybuilders in Africa. She is not only huge but beautiful and she has learned to shun her emotions away from the criticism she receives due to her looks.
