NANS Makes Fresh Demands From Aisha Buhari 48Hrs After Aminu Adamu Release.

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), has insisted that Aminu Mohammed Adamu should get an official apology from Aisha Buhari, following his recent detention.

You may recall that Adamu was taken into custody by agents of the security services a few days ago after he accused the First Lady of feeding on the money of poor people in a post that he made on his Twitter handle.

The young man was charged before the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Maitama on Tuesday, following allegations of harassment, and he struck a not-guilty plea during the proceeding.

However, Aminu was finally allowed to go free on Friday after being held in custody for close to two weeks.

He was freed after a public outcry against his detention, which led the First Lady to recuse herself from the case against him.

However, only a few hours after Aminu was freed, the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) issued a statement on Saturday calling for the First Lady to apologise to Aminu.

The statement was signed by the Ogun State Chairman of the Joint Campus Committee (JCC), Comrade Kehinde Damilola Simeon.

The student union claimed that Madam Buhari had committed an abuse of authority in the way in which she had punished the student.

NANS, on the other hand, insisted that Adamu be rewarded with a letter of apology for the incident.

NANS said: We consider that the meeting of the President with Aminu after his release from detention is not enough.

” Madam Aisha Buhari should apologize publicly in at least four daily newspapers. Aminu and his family should be compensated for the inhumane condition the first family had thrown them into in the last few days.

“These principles are what we consider as the fundamentals basis for demanding the release of the unjustly victimized Nigerian student Aminu Adamu, who has only said nothing but the truth which is visible to all.”
