Palm Sunday Massacre: Several Killed as Armed Assailants Hit Angwan Rukuba Community in Jos North.
Residents of Angwan Rukuba in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State are still coming to terms with a deadly attack that happened on Sunday evening, when suspected gunmen stormed the Gari Ya Waye community and opened fire on residents.
The attack, which began around 7:50 pm, caught many people off guard as heavily armed assailants moved into the area. According to eyewitness accounts, the gunmen fired repeatedly, sending residents scattering in different directions as they tried to escape the hail of bullets.

While the exact number of casualties remains unclear as of Sunday night, sources within the community said several people lost their lives in the assault. A number of others sustained gunshot wounds and were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Those who witnessed the incident described the attackers as swift and organized, carrying out the operation and disappearing into the darkness before security forces could arrive.
Security personnel, including troops from the Nigerian Army and other agencies, responded to distress calls from the community shortly after the attack began. Their presence helped restore order in the area, and efforts were made to secure the location and assist those who had been hurt.
Authorities have since launched an investigation into the incident, with security operatives working to track down those responsible. As of the time of this report, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack, and the motive behind it has yet to be established.
