Popular Nigerian Muslim Scholar Sends Message from Sick Bed in Saudi Arabia.
A well-known Nigerian scholar has fallen ill in Saudi Arabia. The news came shortly after he completed the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage.
Sheikh Muhammad Nuru Khalid, a respected religious figure with a large following across Nigeria, recorded a video message from his sick bed. He shared the video on his official Facebook page. Within hours, the post had gathered thousands of reactions, shares, and comments from concerned Nigerians at home and abroad.
In the video, Sheikh Khalid appeared weak but composed. He began by greeting his fellow Nigerians with words of peace.
His message was brief but heavy with emotion. He asked anyone he may have wronged, whether knowingly or unknowingly, to forgive him.

He said, “Whatever we have belongs to God, and we thank God for that.”
The scholar then urged Nigerians to continue being ambassadors of peace. He ended his message with a simple thank you.

There was something about the video that moved people. Perhaps it was seeing a man of his standing speak with such humility. Perhaps it was the thought of him lying on a sick bed far from home, asking for forgiveness from people he may have never even met.
Many followers took to the comment section to offer prayers. Some asked Allah to raise him back to full health. Others thanked him for years of guidance and teaching. A few simply wrote “Ameen.”
One commenter wrote, “Sheikh, you have done nothing wrong to me. You have only brought light. Get well soon.”

Another said, “This message broke my heart. A great man lying ill and still thinking about others. May Allah heal you completely.”
A third added, “He is asking for forgiveness while he is the one who has given so much to people. This is true humility.”
At the time of filing this report, details about Sheikh Khalid’s exact condition have not been released. It is not clear whether he is still in Saudi Arabia or if arrangements have been made to bring him back to Nigeria. Family members and close associates have not issued any official statement beyond the video he shared himself.
What is known is that he fell ill after completing the 2026 Hajj. The pilgrimage season puts enormous physical strain on the body, even for younger and healthier people. For an older person, the toll can be heavier.
Since the video went online, prayer circles have formed across Nigeria. Some of his followers have organized special prayer sessions at local mosques. Others have been sending messages of support through social media.
The general feeling among those who know his work is one of concern mixed with hope. Concern because a good man is unwell. Hope because they believe prayer can move mountains.

Sheikh Muhammad Nuru Khalid has spent years teaching others about peace, forgiveness, and patience. Now, from a sick bed in a foreign land, he is practicing what he preached. He is asking for forgiveness. He is urging peace. And he is thanking God for whatever he has been given.
That alone, many would say, is the mark of a true teacher.
