BREAKING: Three Suspects in Viral Video With AK-47 Rifles Arrested by FCT Police.
The FCT Police Command says it has arrested three suspected kidnappers who appeared in a viral video showing off AK-47 rifles, ammunition, and walkie-talkies while dressed in military camouflage. The video had circulated widely on social media, drawing attention from citizens and security agencies alike.

According to a statement from the police, an investigation was launched immediately after the video surfaced online. Investigators used digital forensic analysis and intelligence gathering to trace the suspects to their hideout in Runji Village, Zuba, Abuja. An early-morning raid was then carried out at the location.

The suspects have been identified as Umar Babangida, 25; Adamu Yeti, 22; and Yahaya Idris, 24. Police say that upon searching their phones, more photos and videos were found showing the same men posing with weapons, military-style clothing, and communication gadgets.

In the original viral clip, the three men could be seen holding assault rifles and wearing full camouflage uniforms. Walkie-talkies were also visible, raising concerns about how well-equipped the group may have been. Social media users had called on security agencies to act quickly, and many have since praised the police for their response.

However, the police say the case is not yet closed. According to their preliminary findings, the rifles seen in the video were allegedly supplied by a gang leader known only as “Esco.” That person is still on the run. Authorities say efforts are ongoing to arrest him and other members of the gang. Recovering the weapons that were shown in the video is also a priority.
At this time, it is not clear whether the suspects have made any statements or if they will face charges related to past kidnappings. The police have promised to update the public as the investigation continues.

This arrest comes as residents of the Federal Capital Territory and surrounding areas have grown increasingly worried about kidnapping cases. Many have called on security forces to do more than just arrest foot soldiers and to go after those who supply weapons and coordinate attacks from hiding.
For now, the three suspects are in police custody. The search for Esco and the missing rifles continues.
