Rohr Drops Mikel, Releases Final W/Cup List

Super Eagles Head Coach Gernot Rohr has dropped defender Ola Aina and midfielder Mikel Agu from the final team to the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

The three-time African champions lost 2-1 to England on Saturday in a 2018 World Cup tune-up game held at the Wembley Stadium.

They will take Czech on Wednesday as they head to Austria for the team’s final phase preparation ahead of the global soccer fiesta billed for Russia.

Rohr had late last month dropped four players from his provisional list for the competition and has now trimmed the squad to 23 men.

Here is the final 23-man list for the competition:

Goalkeepers: Daniel Akpeyi, Ikechukwu Ezenwa, Francis Uzoho

Defenders: Abdullahi Shehu, Elderson Echiejile, Leon Balogun, William Ekong, Chidozie Awaziem, Tyronne Ebuehi Kenneth Omeruo, Bryan Idowu

Midfielders: Wilfred Ndidi, Mikel John Obi, Ogenyi Onazi, Oghenekaro Etebo, Joel Obi, John Ogu

Forwards: Odion Ighalo, Simeon Nwankwo, Kelechi Iheanacho, Alex Iwobi, Ahmed Musa.

Nigeria alongside Argentina, Iceland and Croatia, will do battle in Group D of the competition.
