‘I Was Declared Dead for Three Days’ – Prophet Tells Story of Returning to Life

It was January 6, 2006, an afternoon that Prophet Abel Ojegorbu says changed everything about his life. He was a university student at the time, riding a motorbike through Apa, a community in Ado, when an accident occurred that would leave him clinically dead for three days.

Ojegorbu, now a deliverance minister, recently shared his story, explaining why he serves God with such passion. According to him, what happened on that dry season afternoon was no ordinary accident.

Ojegorbu and two friends had set out to ride to Agila community. He had been there before during his days at Methodist High School Igumale through his cousin. That Saturday afternoon, he says, the enemy had plans against his life.

Just after the Apa roadside market, two motorbikes clashed. Ojegorbu was on his bike when the tank exploded. Fuel poured over his body, and the bike caught fire while he was still on it. He was burning.

“I called Jesus, Jesus twice,” he recalled. “And that was all.”

The fire spread to the dry grass in the bush when he tried to roll to put it out. Of the six people involved in the accident, he was the only one still standing. One of his friends had a fracture and was immobilized. The other was found headfirst in the bush.

People from Apa heard the crash and came running. By the time they arrived, the fire on Ojegorbu’s body had gone out. He sat by the roadside and told them to search for his friends. Those who saw him were shocked that he could still speak, given the degree of burns on his body and head.

He was taken to Ijigban, his community. Throughout the journey, he remained conscious. But the moment he arrived at the hospital, everything changed. He passed out.

Doctors tried everything to get him to respond. There was no pulse. No breath. Medical instruments showed what they showed.

The medical personnel could not believe it, but the readings did not lie. Ojegorbu was declared clinically dead.

His family knew his wishes. He had once told relatives that if he ever died in an accident, they should keep his body until it started decaying before believing the medical reports. So they waited.

For three days, he lay on the hospital bed. No movement. No breath. Cotton in his ears and nose.

On the fourth day, something happened. Ojegorbu sneezed. He was back.

When he opened his eyes and realized he was confined to a hospital bed, his entire community celebrated. People in Ijigban rejoiced that God had delivered him from death.

“That day I was reborn,” he said. “And my life never remained the same.”

Today, Ojegorbu serves as a prophet, focusing on deliverance ministry. He says his experience on the other side gave him a deep understanding of spiritual matters. When people see him deliver others from what he calls the clutches of the devil, he says it comes from a place of knowing.

“I had been there,” he explained. “There is no better time for anyone to receive deliverance but now. Deliverance is a NOW thing from God.”

He also points to physical changes after the accident. God gave him new skin, both on his face and body. He told someone that he had been delivered from burns before anyone could even notice.

Ojegorbu warns that wickedness is real and that satanic agents are everywhere. But he says there is more available to help people through the power of God, which he describes as saving, healing, and delivering.

This month is his birthday month, and he is celebrating. His message to others is one of hope. He prays that no one becomes a victim of wickedness. He declares that God will keep people alive for the fulfillment of their destiny.

“The same God that delivered me will locate you in the time of need,” he said.
