More Violence: Police Officer Stabbed To Death By ISM Protesters In Abuja.
The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has disclosed that one of its officers, ASP Ezekiel Adama was stabbed to death last Friday during a violent protest by the members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (ISM) in Abuja.
According to ASP Mariam Yusuf, the Police Public Relations Officer in the FCT who made this known in a statement in Abuja.
Yusuf revealed that the late ASP Adama was deployed to restore calm during a protest by members of the proscribed Islamic Movement of Nigeria (ISM) and Adama was stabbed to death by one of the violent protesters at the scene of the protest while trying to carry out his duties.
The PPRO said that the officers of the command had successfully restored calm after professionally dispersing the violent protesters at Berger round- about in Abuja.
The Police Public Relations Officer disclosed that members of the disbanded Islamic Movement of Nigeria on Friday embarked on rampage and destroyed public properties, attacked innocent citizens including police officers and looted shops using dangerous weapons.
ASP Yusuf said that about forty nine members of the sect had been arrested and would be charged to court upon the conclusion of all investigations.
CP Bala Ciroma, the Commissioner of Police in charge of FCT also commiserated with the family of the deceased officer who paid the supreme price in service to the nation, the PPRO added.
Yusuf used the medium to sound a note of warning that the command would not tolerate further attacks on its personnel, equipment or other public property by members of the proscribed group.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the command also urged residents of the Federal Capital Territory to remain calm and law- abiding while promising the usual unwavering commitment of the command to the protect lives and properties within the Federal Capital Territory.
