“My Husband Believed Me And That Saved Me”: Married NYSC Corp Member Opens Up About Camp Scandal That Almost Ended Her Marriage.
A married woman who was sent out of the NYSC orientation camp in 2022 over allegations of adultery has come forward to tell her side of the story. She claims she was set up by a male colleague who used Artificial Intelligence to create fake photos and videos of her.
The incident took place in 2022 at the NYSC orientation camp in Ishe Omure Local Government Area, Ekiti State. The corp member, who asked to remain anonymous, said she was posted to the state for her mandatory national service.
“I am that woman, and I’m here to tell you my story,” she began, referring to the rumours that have followed her since the incident.
She described herself as an outgoing person who enjoys making friends with both men and women. “I have learned my lessons,” she said, acknowledging that her experience has changed her outlook.
According to her, she met a fellow corp member who began showing unusual interest in her. “Anywhere I was, he was there. If I wanted to buy something, he was there paying for me,” she recounted.

Despite her attempts to discourage him, he continued buying things for her. “I tried a couple of times to tell him, ‘Hey, you know, I’m fine.’ He insisted on buying things. I didn’t see the harm in it,” she explained.
The man began opening up to her about his personal life and relationships. She admitted developing a soft spot for him because of what he shared. “Anytime he wanted to see me, I usually came out of my hostel to see him.”
When he eventually asked her to date him, she turned him down and told him she was married. He didn’t take the rejection well. “If you’re married,” he asked, “why don’t you wear your wedding ring?” He refused to believe her.
She decided to cut off all communication with him. But that only made matters worse. “This guy got so obsessed with me. Everywhere I turned, he was there,” she said.
Her roommates became uncomfortable when they noticed he was always standing outside their window. She felt compelled to go outside and talk to him one final time.

The Set-Up
During that conversation, he hugged her out of nowhere. “It came as a shock. I didn’t see it coming,” she recalled. While she was trying to push him away, other men appeared and began taking photos and videos. “He left me, got up and went with them. That’s when I realised that they were friends.”
Hours later, she received images of herself kissing the man. She claims his face was conveniently hidden, and that Artificial Intelligence was used to create the images. He then sent a video of the same nature.
“I was still processing what was going on. He sent a video of us kissing. AI videos,” she stated firmly.
The man then called her and gave her an ultimatum. “If I don’t have you, I will send you out of this camp. I gave you 10 minutes to meet me outside,” he reportedly said before ending the call.
She tried to contact her husband that evening but his phone wasn’t reachable. She decided to report the matter to the camp coordinator the next morning.

But the next morning brought shocking news. “The first message I got on my phone was a query from my camp coordinator asking me to give a written reply to the allegations that I was caught with someone last night having sex.”
She was given only one hour to respond.
A court hearing was conducted inside the camp, with the camp director serving as chairman. The camp commandant, security heads, police representatives, and a lawyer who was also a corp member were all present.
“He brought the allegations against me, and I tried to defend myself as much as I could. They brought in witnesses. Guess who was the witness? This guy,” she said.
The lawyer assigned to her believed she was innocent. But she couldn’t do much to change the outcome. The married woman was disciplined and sent out of the orientation camp.
The worst part came when NYSC officials contacted her husband before she could inform him herself. “My husband called me on the phone and asked me one question. ‘Did you do it?’ And I said no. And he said, ‘I believe you.’ That was everything I needed to hear.”
That moment of trust gave her the strength to fight back.
With her husband’s support and the help of a lawyer, they took the case to the Director-General in Abuja. The case was reopened. A tech team was brought in to examine the video evidence.
“Immediately they put these videos and pictures in, it showed 98% AI,” she revealed.
NYSC officials apologised to her and asked her to return and complete her service.
However, she expressed disappointment that the man who set her up received only a one-month extension of his service year as punishment.
“They only gave him a one-month extension. Just one month,” she said, clearly frustrated with what she considers a lenient penalty.
She offered advice to others, especially married women.
“Be careful who you receive gifts from. Some people can go under rejection. It’s better not to even get yourself involved with friends of the opposite sex because most times it doesn’t really end well.”
She credited her husband’s trust with saving her from what could have been a much more painful outcome. “I’m so fortunate that I have a husband that believes in me and trusts me. Otherwise, my case would have been sorry.”
