Oyo APC Candidate Donates Car to Rescued Principal After 56 Days in Captivity.
The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, has donated a brand-new Toyota Camry to Mrs Rachael Folake Alamu, the principal of Community High School, Esiele, in Oriire Local Government Area.
The presentation took place on Monday at the Military Hospital in Ibadan, where Mrs Alamu is currently receiving treatment alongside other rescued teachers and pupils.

Senator Alli said the car donation was his way of recognising the principal’s courage and resilience during the traumatic experience. Mrs Alamu was among those abducted on May 15, 2026, when gunmen attacked three schools in Oriire Local Government Area. She and the other victims spent 56 days in captivity before they were freed.
During her time in captivity, the principal was reportedly forced by her abductors to appear in several video recordings used to communicate with the outside world and press their demands.
The APC candidate praised Mrs Alamu for her “exceptional bravery, composure and unwavering commitment” to the safety and welfare of the abducted pupils throughout the ordeal. He described the donation as a modest gesture to appreciate her courage and demonstrate solidarity with victims of insecurity.

When Mrs Alamu was rescued, an emotional video shared online showed the visibly shaken principal asking security operatives about her husband and her vehicle, before officers assured her that her family was safe.
She had earlier explained that she asked about her car because she believed the police had recovered it, before learning that her abductors had burnt it.
During her captivity, Mrs Alamu later recounted that she and the other victims had little hope of surviving the ordeal. She disclosed that two of the abductees, a mathematics teacher named Michael Oyedokun and another victim identified as Esiyan Adegboye, were killed by the kidnappers.
“They killed them purposely because they felt that would force the hand of the government to give them whatever they wanted,” she said.

Residents and stakeholders in Oriire Local Government welcomed Senator Alli’s gesture, describing it as a compassionate intervention and a fitting recognition of the sacrifices made by teachers serving under difficult conditions.
The donation came days after the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Abimbola Owoade, visited the rescued victims to sympathise with them and celebrate their safe return.
Senator Alli said the donation reflects the need for leaders and well-meaning individuals to provide practical support to victims of insecurity, particularly educators who continue to serve their communities under challenging conditions.
He expressed hope that the gesture would support the principal’s recovery and serve as encouragement as she resumes her professional responsibilities.
