Adeyemi’s Arrest Is a Cover-Up, Sowore Insists as He Calls for Gbajabiamila’s Probe Over ₦400m Bribe Allegation,
Human rights activist and AAC presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has questioned why President Bola Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, has not been arrested following allegations of bribery and corruption.
In a series of posts on his social media platforms on Wednesday, Sowore described the arrest of Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi as part of an official cover-up rather than a genuine search for the truth.
Adeyemi, who had presented himself as the Director-General of the “Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council” (PFIPC), was arrested after a warrant was issued by Justice Mohammed Umar of the Federal High Court in Abuja . He faces an eight-count charge bordering on conspiracy, forgery, and impersonation.
Sowore alleged that Adeyemi’s arrest was meant to divert attention from what he called a bribery scandal involving Gbajabiamila.

“By now, President Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, should also be under arrest and investigation if the authorities are truly committed to uncovering the facts,” Sowore wrote.
He further claimed that the person accused of collecting a ₦400 million bribe on Gbajabiamila’s behalf had died under what he described as mysterious circumstances. He also said the hotel where the money was allegedly exchanged had since been demolished.
“In addition to the real crimes, we are now witnessing obstruction of justice by the Tinubu criminal regime,” Sowore said.
The controversy began when Adeyemi alleged that Gbajabiamila demanded N400 million upfront and another N200 million to secure his appointment as head of a federal agency . He also claimed the Chief of Staff demanded 48 percent of the agency’s take-off grant, which he put at N27.4 billion.

Adeyemi maintained that the PFIPC was properly established, had a Central Bank account, and appeared in the 2026 budget with an allocation of 1.3 billion naira.
However, the Presidency described the agency as fictitious and accused Adeyemi of forging official documents . Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga said police forensic analysis confirmed that signatures on the disputed appointment letter were forged.

Other opposition figures have also called for an independent investigation. Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar demanded that Gbajabiamila be probed, arguing that the allegations were “too serious to be swept under the carpet” .
The Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR) has called on the government to direct the DSS, EFCC, ICPC, and the Nigeria Police Force to commence a coordinated and transparent investigation into the matter .
President Tinubu has since ordered the ICPC to conduct a full investigation into the PFIPC scandal and submit a report within 30 days.
