The Nollywood star turned evangelist has officially opened the doors of her New Wine Prophetic Tabernacle, describing it as a spiritual movement rather than a conventional church.
Nollywood actress and former politician Tonto Dikeh has taken another step in her faith journey by launching her own ministry in Abuja. The New Wine Prophetic Tabernacle (NWPT) was officially unveiled on Sunday, August 9, 2026, with the actress taking on the role of leading prophetess .
Dikeh, who has been open about her transformation from what she described as a life of addiction and darkness to a born-again Christian, announced the ministry on her Instagram page. According to her, NWPT is an interdenominational altar dedicated to prayer, revival, and spiritual awakening for believers hungry for what she called “genuine revival, fire, and transformation” .
The name of the ministry draws from Mark 2:22, which states: “And no one puts new wine into old wineskins” . This scripture, Dikeh explained, reflects the vision of the movement and its call for a fresh start.
The actress, who has reportedly completed a discipleship programme at Pastor Jerry Eze’s Streams of Joy International church, clarified that her new initiative is not a church in the traditional sense. She described it instead as an “intense gathering of those consecrated and equipped for the purposes of God.”
According to reports, the fellowship will hold meetings every Friday at 6:00 PM at the Omini Grand Hotel in Jabi, Abuja, formerly known as Alexis Hotel. Dikeh is said to be taking an active role in leading services, performing prayers and sharing prophetic messages with attendees.

Her journey to this point has been marked by a series of emotional testimonies about her past. In March 2026, Dikeh gave a raw account of her former life at a prayer conference in Tanzania, revealing that she had once joined cults and worked with demons before her divine deliverance. She shared that she had struggled with drug addiction, anger, and other personal challenges.
“From a drug addict to an altar that praises God. From a devil worshipper to a woman who will pray to God with fire,” she reportedly said during the testimony.
The launch has drawn mixed reactions from Nigerians. While some have welcomed her new direction and praised her openness about her transformation, others have expressed scepticism. Several social media users questioned whether her move into ministry was genuine or simply another career shift.
One user wrote, “I genuinely want God to use her and touch lives because she’s a testament that what God can’t do doesn’t exist” . Another asked, “Why do people feel like after Salvation, the best thing is to open a church? May God help us.”

Others took a more cynical view, with one commentator suggesting, “Politics nor favour her, she rush enter church business.”
Dikeh joins a growing list of Nigerian entertainers who have left the screen for the pulpit in recent years. Her move comes after months of public appearances at various churches where she shared her testimony of transformation.
The actress has also reportedly reconciled with her former husband, Olakunle Churchill, earlier this year, adding another layer to her personal journey.
As she begins this new chapter, Dikeh has made her commitment clear. In a recent post, she declared, “I am forever surrendered to Your voice… I AM A JESUS YES SIR GIRL.”
