Oyo Father Breaks Silence: Kidnappers Shouted at My Children to Run While Shooting Into the Air.
A farmer in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State has given a firsthand account of the moment his four children were taken during a coordinated attack on local schools. According to him, the kidnappers turned the whole affair into a scene of shouting and gunfire.

Micheal Ojo, who lives and works on his farm in the affected area, said the attackers came in without warning. They moved quickly from one school to another, picking out children and forcing them to leave with them.
Some children tried to escape by jumping through classroom windows. Ojo said those who were fast enough got away. But his four children were not so lucky. They were caught up in the chaos and taken.
What stays with him the most is what he heard as the abductors marched the children away. His daughter-in-law was also taken alongside them.

“The kidnappers kept shouting at them to run while firing gunshots into the air,” Ojo said.
He explained that the gunfire was not just for show. It was so heavy and close that no one in the surrounding homes dared to step outside. People were afraid that a stray bullet would catch them if they opened their doors.
“Everybody just stayed inside. You could hear the shots echoing everywhere,” he added.
From what Ojo could see, the kidnappers forced the children and his daughter-in-law through a bush path leading toward the Esiele community. He does not know what happened after they disappeared into the trees.
He has not seen any of them since.
The attack in Oriire was part of a larger operation on May 15, 2026, when armed bandits on motorcycles raided three different schools — Community High School in Ahoro-Esinele, First Baptist Nursery and Primary School in Yawota, and L.A. Primary School.
Officials say 32 people were taken, but community members believe the number is closer to 46. Among those abducted is a two-year-old toddler, a school principal, and a nursing mother.
Ojo’s account adds another layer to an already heartbreaking situation. While the government says a rescue team has been sent, families like his are still waiting. No one has told him whether his children are alive or where they are being held.
