When Hassan Ahmad was captured by members of the 33 Artillery Brigade Operation Safe Conduct deployed to Alkaleri in Bauchi State, it was discovered that he was in possession of the amount of two million naira cash in both old and new currencies. This occurred when the country as a whole was now going through a liquidity constraint.

The person who was arrested on Friday was brought to the Bauchi State headquarters of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

Ahmad had N900,000 in cash made up of brand-new notes and N1, 000, 000 in cash made up of outdated notes. He was traveling in a black Hilux with tinted windows and the license plate JMA 85 AZ.

The cash, which was kept in a bag marked ” Ghana Must Go, ” is made up of six bundles of new 1, 000 naira notes, totaling N600,000; six bundles of new 500 naira notes, totaling N300000; and six bundles of old 200 naira notes, totaling N1.1 million.

The suspect acknowledged that the money was being carried to Gombe State for a politician, according to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses Commission (ICPC). The Commission is now looking into the situation again.
