Aboy Steps Out With Wife to Mark World Down Syndrome Day as OPM Founder Donates iPads to Autistic Children
It was a day of celebration, awareness, and giving back as a well-known figure from the Omega Power Ministry (OPM), popularly called Aboy, stepped out with his wife to mark World Down Syndrome Day. The couple later joined the church’s founder, Apostle Chibuzor Gift Chinyere, for another event tied to World Autism Day.
The global community observed World Autism Day on April 2, 2026, and OPM used the occasion to show love to children with special needs. Apostle Chibuzor, who runs a free school for children with autism and Down syndrome, organized a special gathering for the students.

The highlight of the event came when each child at the OPM free school received a brand new iPad. According to the clergyman, the devices are meant to support the children’s learning process.
“This iPad will assist their learning process,” Apostle Chibuzor said as he handed out the devices. He also revealed that his business partner in China sent cartons of an audio book called “Phonics For All.” The audio book, he explained, would go a long way in helping the children improve their reading and speaking skills.

The event also saw Aboy—now known as Elijah—attend with his wife by his side. The couple joined other families and children with autism to celebrate the day. Aboy, whose full name was previously Aboy Chibuzor, has been a familiar face in the church community for years.

In a surprise announcement during the gathering, Apostle Chibuzor said he had changed Aboy’s name to Elijah Chibuzor. No detailed reason was given for the name change, but the clergyman presented it as a new chapter for the young man.
“From today, he shall be called Elijah Chibuzor,” the apostle declared. Those present welcomed the announcement with applause.

Parents of the children who benefit from the OPM free school expressed their gratitude. Many spoke about how the school had changed their lives, especially because they pay nothing for their children’s education and care.

“My son could not say two words before he joined this school,” said one mother who attended the event. “Now he can read small things. And today he got an iPad. I don’t have the money to buy that myself.”
Apostle Chibuzor has built a reputation over the years for running social welfare programs through his church, including free schools, free hospitals, and free meal programs. The free school for autism and Down syndrome remains one of his most talked-about projects, drawing attention from both within Nigeria and abroad.

As the event came to a close, the children were seen smiling and holding their new iPads while teachers guided them through the first few pages of the Phonics For All audio book.
For Elijah and his wife, the day was about showing up, showing support, and celebrating people who are often overlooked. “It’s not just about the name change,” a church member who attended said. “It’s about seeing that every child matters. That is the message they carried today.”
More photos and videos from the event are expected to be shared on the church’s social media pages in the coming days.
