Major General Hassan Ahmed Shot Dead by Kidnappers in Abuja, Wife Abducted.
A senior officer of the Nigerian Army, Major General Hassan Ahmed, has been killed by gunmen in the Abaji area of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. His wife was also taken away by the attackers.
According to information received by Toktok9ja Media, the couple was returning from Okene in Kogi State when the incident took place. The gunmen reportedly opened fire on their vehicle, hitting the general. He died at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle managed to survive. Sources said he pretended to be dead while the attackers were still around. After the shooting, the gunmen took the general’s wife and left.
Before his death, Major General Hassan Ahmed served as a director at the Army Headquarters. He was appointed to that role by the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya. He also once held the position of Provost Marshal of the Nigerian Army. People who knew him described him as an experienced officer who had served in various capacities over the years.

The attack has raised fresh worries about safety in parts of the country. Armed violence and kidnappings have become common in several regions. Even the capital city, Abuja, has seen a number of security breaches in recent times. Abaji is one of the area councils within the Federal Capital Territory and has witnessed cases of highway attacks before.

As of the time of this report, the Nigerian Army had not released an official statement on the incident. Efforts to reach the military public relations unit for comments were not immediately successful. The police command in the Federal Capital Territory has also not issued any update regarding rescue efforts for the general’s wife.
Local residents in Abaji said the news had left many in shock. One resident, who asked not to be named for safety reasons, said the area has become a hotspot for criminal activity along the highway.

This event adds to a long list of attacks on travelers and public figures on Nigerian roads. It also brings back attention to the safety of military officers even while they are off duty or traveling privately.
