Djoumessi Sonia is a Cameroonian-born singer-songwriter based in the UK.

Djoumessi Sonia started her musical career at the tender age of 10, singing in her school choir to the delight of parents and teachers.

She also learned how to play local musical instruments such as shakers, hobos, gongs, xylophones, and others.

The school provided music lessons every Wednesday evening where she learned the basics of music theory and practice, as well as the piano and keyboard. This fueled her passion for music.

Djoumessi started writing songs at the age of 12, and her vocal quality soared when she joined the secondary school choir, gaining more choral experience.

Although her family had other plans for her to become a medical doctor, Djoumessi’s passion for music burned within her.

Djoumessi Sonia became the center of attraction during her days at the University of Buea. This was like a dream come true—her talent for music was amplified.

At this time, she had started recording in a studio, and with the help of Pastor Rochie Osvalin, she enrolled in a vocal training course at M1 Studio under his supervision. During that time, Djoumessi recorded hit tracks like DANCER, BAMI, RESEAUX, HIT LOVE, and many others.

She balanced her burgeoning music career with her modeling work. Among her achievements as a model are winning the Miss Sumit Productions 2019 in Cameroon and being decorated as the female ambassador of Bright Future Foundation in 2018.

Her professional music career took off in 2022 following the release of her first EP, GRADUALLY, produced, mixed, and mastered by Marc Eff of Kovapot.

The EP featured hit tracks like MAKE MOVES, LOVING, TELL THEM, and GRADUALLY. The production process of this project was a learning opportunity for her in terms of the music-making process.

Apart from being an artist and model, Djoumessi works as a Biomedical Scientist at the Nottingham University Hospital, Queen’s Medical Centre, in Nottingham, United Kingdom.
