A video circulating on TikTok has set off a wave of anger across Nigeria. A well-known bandit, identified by his username as Sabiu, went live on the platform to show off what he claims are over 100 brand new Nigerian military uniforms he and his group recently purchased.

In the clip, the man displays the uniforms in clear view, stacking them one after the other. He speaks casually, almost as if he is showing off a new delivery of everyday goods. According to information gathered by Toktok9ja Media, a single Nigerian military uniform can cost as much as 80,000 naira. Multiply that by over 100 pieces, and the amount of money involved becomes impossible to ignore.
But the money is not what has Nigerians worried. It is what the uniforms represent.
“Soon we won’t even know who is a bandit and who is a soldier,” one social media user wrote under a repost of the video. That comment has been shared thousands of times.
What makes the situation harder to swallow for many is the timing. Across the country, armed groups have been kidnapping school children, some as young as two years old. Families are living in fear.
