Iran Agrees to Fully Open Strait of Hormuz After U.S. Accepts Peace Proposal.
In a sudden shift that caught many off guard, Iran’s government has agreed to a complete, immediate, and safe opening of the Strait of Hormuz. The decision came shortly after the United States agreed to a 10-point peace proposal put forward by Tehran.
The breakthrough follows a tense 48-hour deadline issued by Washington, during which President Donald Trump warned of military action if no deal was reached. Just hours before the planned operation, Pakistani leaders stepped in with a last-minute request to hold off.
Trump Announces Suspension of Attacks
Taking to social media, President Trump confirmed that the bombing and attack on Iran would be suspended for two weeks. He described the halt as a “double sided CEASEFIRE,” giving both sides room to finalize a longer-term agreement.

According to Trump’s statement, the decision came after conversations with Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir, who asked the U.S. to pull back from the destructive force that had been ready to launch.
Trump wrote:
“Based on conversations with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir, of Pakistan, and wherein they requested that I hold off the destructive force being sent tonight to Iran, and subject to the Islamic Republic of Iran agreeing to the COMPLETE, IMMEDIATE, and SAFE OPENING of the Strait of Hormuz, I agree to suspend the bombing and attack of Iran for a period of two weeks.”

10-Point Iranian Proposal Accepted as Starting Point
The President noted that the U.S. had already met and exceeded all military objectives tied to the earlier threat. But he added that Iran’s 10-point proposal offered a workable basis to move forward with negotiations.
“We received a 10 point proposal from Iran, and believe it is a workable basis on which to negotiate. Almost all of the various points of past contention have been agreed to between the United States and Iran,” Trump said.
The two-week pause, he explained, would allow both sides to wrap up the remaining details and turn the temporary ceasefire into a lasting peace deal.

The Strait of Hormuz, a narrow waterway between the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, is one of the world’s most important shipping lanes. Nearly a fifth of global oil passes through it daily. Any closure or military escalation there would send shockwaves through energy markets.
For weeks, tensions had been building. Trump’s earlier vow to “bomb Iran to the stone age” if no agreement was reached had raised fears of a wider war. But the last-minute intervention by Pakistan appears to have opened a door that many thought was closed.
Trump also framed the development as a win for regional stability, writing: “On behalf of the United States of America, as President, and also representing the Countries of the Middle East, it is an Honor to have this Longterm problem close to resolution.”
The coming two weeks will determine whether this ceasefire holds. Both the U.S. and Iran have shown flexibility in recent hours, but trust between the two nations remains thin. The world will be watching to see if the 10-point proposal turns into a signed agreement — or if the pause is just the calm before another storm.
For now, tankers keep moving through the strait. And for the first time in weeks, talk in Washington and Tehran has shifted from bombs to bullet points.
