OPM Founder Provides Free Housing, Transport for Nigerians Fleeing South Africa.
The founder of Omega Power Ministries (OPM), Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere, has announced free transportation and accommodation for Nigerians returning from South Africa following attacks on foreign nationals in the country.
The Port Harcourt-based televangelist and philanthropist said the move is aimed at easing the suffering of returnees who have lost their livelihoods and properties in the recent wave of xenophobic violence.
In a social media post, Apostle Chibuzor confirmed that another batch of Nigerians had arrived from South Africa and assured them that they would not be left without shelter.
“Families like husband and wife and children that don’t have any home in Nigeria to come back to are welcomed to a free estate purchased specially for them. The OPM estate is 100% free of charge for families only,” he wrote .
The cleric also revealed that a free bus, clearly marked “SOUTH AFRICAN RETURNEES,” has been purchased to pick up families from the airport. The bus will transport them to the church for documentation before taking them to the free estates.

Apostle Chibuzor made a practical request to the returnees, explaining that while the church has made housing arrangements, food provisions would take a little more time to finalise.
“Please don’t be angry, we have not yet concluded with the catering woman, so you will feed yourself till next week when we would conclude with another catering woman,” he stated.
The cleric made it clear that the entire initiative is funded through church resources.
“Everything is fully funded through tithes and offerings from OPM Church,” he wrote.
This is not the first time the ministry, established on October 22, 2006, has stepped in to assist vulnerable Nigerians. OPM is widely recognised across the country for its extensive charity programmes, which include tuition-free schools, specialist hospitals offering free medical care, overseas scholarships for less privileged students, and empowerment schemes .
The ministry currently operates 43 tuition-free schools, two free specialist hospitals, and 18 free housing estates. It has also awarded over 10,000 scholarships to indigent Nigerians, both locally and internationally.

According to reports, at least 15 families have already been accommodated in one of OPM’s free estates in Port Harcourt, with their children enrolled in the church’s free schools.
The intervention comes as more Nigerians continue returning from South Africa following concerns over xenophobic tensions and a self-imposed June 30 deadline set by anti-immigrant groups for foreigners to leave the country.
The Nigerian government has evacuated hundreds of citizens, with Air Peace also providing free flights for returnees . However, many who left South Africa had spent decades building lives and businesses there, returning with nothing.
Apostle Chibuzor said he was moved to act after hearing the stories of returnees through a member of his church’s South African branch. Some had lived in South Africa for over 20 years and had no homes in Nigeria because everything they owned was there .
“Leaving them with nowhere to return to after their businesses were destroyed would trigger trauma, sickness or death, hence my decision to intervene,” he said.

The cleric said the motivation behind the intervention is simply his Christian faith.
“The Bible teaches us to feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty and provide shelter for the homeless. That is the principle guiding what we are doing,” he said.
Beyond immediate relief, the ministry plans to help returnees start businesses and become self-reliant. A welfare committee will monitor beneficiaries and supervise the purchase of goods for businesses to ensure the support is properly used .
