” After some of the Igbos he was fighting for gave out his identity to the security forces, he was shot and killed, ” a source explained.

It can be recalled that Ikonso was killed in Imo State during a joint operation involving security forces from the Nigerian Police Force, Nigerian Army, and the Department of State Services (DSS).

Commander Ikonso was killed during a gun battle between security operatives and rebels, according to Naija News, and six of his fighters were also arrested.

The incident occurred in Imo State’ s Awomama Village, Oru East LGA.

” The killing of the brave innocent Biafrans defending our communities and towns from Fulani terrorists herdsmen masquerading as cattle herders in cold blood is very painful, ” IPOB said in response to Ikonso’ s death.

” The Supreme Court Administrator of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma, and all those who had a hand in this wickedness will pay dearly, ” the statement continued.

” Hope Uzodinma and his cowardly Nigerian security forces should be ashamed of themselves. They are incapable of fighting Fulani terrorists but flex their muscles when they see Biafra agitators. Uzodinma has sparked a hornet’ s nest by assassinating Ikonso, the ESN (Eastern Security Network) unit leader. He should get ready for a sting. “
