Sad: Veteran Nollywood Actress Cynthia Okereke is dead.
In a tragic turn of events, the Nigerian film industry, known as Nollywood, mourns the loss of veteran actress Cynthia Okereke. The news of her passing was shared on Wednesday through an emotional Instagram post by Joseph Okechukwu, a popular actor and filmmaker.
According to Okechukwu, Okereke had unexpectedly passed away on Tuesday evening. He expressed his deep sorrow and revealed that he had been in the process of arranging her flight ticket to America before receiving the devastating news.
Okechukwu’s heartfelt tribute read, “REST IN PEACE, Nwanyi oma. I’m shattered beyond words. The fact that I was about to pay for your flight ticket to come and finish what we started only to hear you went to be with the Lord just last night is one of the toughest things I’ve had to deal with in recent times.”
He went on to reflect on their longstanding friendship, spanning over two decades and praised Okereke’s amazing character, decency, and loveliness. Okechukwu struggled to find adequate words to capture the depth of his grief, concluding with a heartfelt wish for her soul to find eternal peace until they reunite in glory.
