VIDEO: Ojota Rioting – Two Killed As Yoruba Nation Protest Turns Bl00dy in Lagos.
Following a brawl between Yoruba Nation members and police officers during a protest for self-determination, there was mayhem in the Ojota neighbourhood of Lagos State.
A viral video, depicted the chaos as the police sought to restore calm in the area.
As the melee caused a minor traffic hold-up, additional reports showed that two individuals had been killed.
Benjamin Hundeyin, the public relations officer for the Lagos State Police, claimed that order had been restored in the meantime.
He said he could not provide more information at this time.
“I don’t have the details, once I have the details, I will let you know,” the PPRO said.
The Yoruba Nation agitation groups’ umbrella organisation, Ilana Omo Oodua Worldwide, was threatened with division following a crisis that preceded this one.
After Wale Adeniran, its new chairman and leader, resigned due to accusations of fraud and embezzlement, this occurred.
In a two-and-a-half-minute video that was posted on YouTube (Omoboriowo media) on Saturday, Adeniran claimed that he stepped down to allow a thorough investigation into the fraud claim made against him.
He invited anyone with information on him that could be used against him to come forward and make it public.
Aseniran called on Yoruba elders to form a committee, he said that left the group in order to allow for a full inquiry.
