Female 200-Level UCC Student Found Dead at Beach After Allegedly Visiting Wealthy Boyfriend.
The University of Cape Coast community is in mourning following the tragic death of a 200-level student whose body was discovered at a beach days after she went missing.
Vicencia Atsufui Avinu, also known as Innocentia, was a Human Resource Management student at the university. Her body was found on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Hutchland Beach near Duakor, a coastal community close to the UCC campus.
She was discovered lying face down and dressed only in her underwear and bra.
According to reports gathered by Toktok9ja Media, Avinu was last seen leaving her hostel at Ayensu Plaza in Amamoma around 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 11, 2026.
She had received a phone call shortly before she left. Friends said she told them she was going to meet a wealthy boyfriend but did not provide further details about who the person was or where they were meeting.

When she failed to return that night, her friends tried reaching her by phone. Their calls went unanswered. By Friday morning, there was still no word from her. Concerned colleagues and friends began searching for her, but their efforts did not produce any results.
Her family was contacted, and a formal missing person report was filed with the police on Friday after they could not locate her.
On Saturday morning, residents of the Duakor community made a grim discovery. They found the body of a young woman washed ashore at Hutchland Beach and immediately alerted local authorities.
Police officers who arrived at the scene identified the body as that of the missing student. She was found lying face down on the sand with blood oozing from her nose. She was dressed only in her underwear and bra.

Preliminary examinations at the beachside did not reveal visible marks of physical injury or assault. However, police have not ruled out the possibility that she may have been harmed before ending up in the water.
The body has since been taken to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital morgue, where a formal autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
The Ghana Police Service has confirmed that investigations are ongoing. While no arrests have been made at the time of this report, authorities are following several leads.
Police are particularly interested in identifying the man Avinu told her friends she was going to meet. Her phone records are being examined to trace the last person who called her before she left her hostel.
In the days following the discovery of her body, social media platforms have been flooded with unverified claims about the incident.

Some users have alleged that parts of Avinu’s body were missing or harvested. These claims have caused additional distress to the family and friends of the deceased.
The University of Cape Coast has stepped in to address the situation. The university’s Director of Public Affairs, Dr Antwi Konadu, has appealed to the public to stop spreading unverified information. He described the social media speculation as distressing for the bereaved family.
The university has also made counselling available to Avinu’s roommate, coursemates and other affected students.
The family of the deceased hails from Dzodze in the Volta Region. They are yet to make a public statement but have been present at the morgue and have been cooperating with police.

Friends have described Avinu as a quiet and focused student who kept to herself. One colleague who spoke to Toktok9ja Media said she was not known to have any enemies or trouble with anyone.
“She was just a normal student trying to get her degree,” the friend said. “We don’t understand why this happened to her.”
Police have assured the public that they are committed to a thorough investigation. Officers are combing through phone records, interviewing friends and acquaintances, and reviewing security camera footage from the area around her hostel.
The autopsy report is expected to provide more clarity on what caused her death. Until that report is released, the exact circumstances surrounding the death of Innocentia Avinu remain unclear.

This is a developing story. We will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
