Nigerian Law School Student Falls to Her Death From Four-Storey Hostel Building.
23-year-old Faith Ajoke Alayande reportedly left a note before the incident on Lagos campus.
The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the death of a 23-year-old female student of the Nigerian Law School, Lagos Campus, located on Victoria Island.
Faith Ajoke Alayande was found dead within the hostel premises on Friday, August 7, 2026, after she reportedly jumped from the rooftop of a four-storey hostel building where she resided.
According to police authorities, a note was discovered by her hostel mate and a relative who had begun searching for her before the incident occurred. The contents of the note have not been made public as investigations continue.
The matter was reported to the Victoria Island Police Division by the hostel’s Chief Matron at approximately 6:30 a.m. on the same day. Police officers responded to the scene and later evacuated Alayande’s body to a morgue for preservation.
Abimbola Adebisi, the command’s spokesperson, confirmed the incident and stated that investigators are working to establish the circumstances surrounding the student’s death.
Uchenna Marvin, who supervised Alayande during her university years, described her death as deeply painful. He recalled that she had previously engaged in discussions about the right to life and the right to die while working on her research in Medical Law.

Alayande had completed her university education and gained admission to the Nigerian Law School earlier this year. She was pursuing her legal career when the tragedy occurred.
The incident has thrown the Lagos Campus community into mourning, with fellow students expressing shock over the loss of their colleague. Many have taken to social media to share memories of Alayande, describing her as a bright and promising student.
The university where she earned her first degree has also expressed sadness over her passing.

Authorities have urged students and young people facing emotional challenges to seek help through available support channels rather than resorting to self-harm.
