Seriki Fulani Arrested in Ijebu Ode Over Kidnapping, Ransom Bag Found Inside His Kitchen

Seriki Fulani Arrested in Ijebu Ode Over Kidnapping, Ransom Bag Found Inside His Kitchen.

A community leader known as the Seriki Fulani in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, has been arrested by security operatives in connection with the wave of abductions troubling the area. The arrest came after weeks of careful investigation, and the evidence found inside his home has left many people shocked.

According to details gathered by Toktok9ja Media, the suspect initially denied any involvement when he was picked up. He reportedly swore using Allah’s name, insisting that he had never played any role in kidnapping, whether directly or indirectly. He repeated his denial several times, even as investigators pressed him for answers.

But security officers did not stop there. They continued their work, following every lead until they got a warrant to search his house. That was when things took a different turn.

Inside the man’s kitchen, officers found a bag. That bag, according to sources, was later identified as the same one used to collect ransom money from one of the victims kidnapped along the Ijebu axis. The discovery changed everything.

Confronted with the evidence, the Seriki Fulani finally admitted the truth. He told investigators that he was aware one of his sons was involved in kidnapping. That son, however, had already fled before security agents could get to him. The father was arrested alongside several others. Some money and other items were also recovered from the scene.

Social Media User Calls Out Southwest Governors

A social media user who commented on the arrest did not hold back. The person praised the security officers for their smart work but turned the spotlight on political leaders in the Southwest.

According to the user, Southwest governors are not doing enough. The person argued that some of these leaders are playing politics with the lives of ordinary people, possibly because they believe they may need the support of certain groups in the future. The user described this as selfishness and called on the governors to stop being soft.

The comment read in part: “Why is it so hard for them to come up with total banning of open grazing in the whole of SW region but creating a RUGA settlement for any herder with cows as against roaming their cattle around?”

The user suggested that each senatorial district should have at least one RUGA settlement. Anyone who refuses to register and use those settlements, the person argued, should be removed from the region along with their cattle.

The social media user also raised concerns about the constant movement of commercial motorcycles known as Okada and human-loading trailers from the north into Southwest states like Oyo, Ogun, and Lagos. The person said these vehicles enter without proper checks at the borders, and that this must stop.

The user ended with a strong warning: “It is getting too much and the ways and manners at which they are kidnapping, killing and injuring our people is getting too much. Don’t let me even talk about how they are seizing our land from our farmers and people in rural areas.”

As of now, the Seriki Fulani remains in custody. Security agents are said to be searching for his son, who is still on the run. The Ogun State Police Command has not yet released an official statement regarding the case, but sources say investigations are still ongoing.
