Murder-Suicide: Soldier Shoots His Girlfriend Dead, Then Turns the Gun to Himself.

A clear case of love gone sour has occurred in Nanyuki Township, Kenya, which has resulted in the death of two lovers.

The soldier from Kenya Defence Forces Emmanuel Walugu Onyango sprayed the body of his girlfriend with bullets and after the act shot himself in the chin with an AK- 47 rifle.

The sad incident happened on Sunday, October 9, 2022.

It was a cool Sunday morning as usual when Emmanuel dressed in full military combat and left for work. While on duty, he asked permission to go for supper at around 6pm. It was around that time that he dashed to the house of his girlfriend, Ms Immaculate Mwende Mwirigi, and shot and killed her. He also shot himself after committing the heinous act.

Mr Onesmus Towett, who is the Laikipia County Criminal Investigation Officer, CCIO, confirms the sad development, adding that officers were prompted and when they rushed to the scene, they discovered that the door of the house was locked from inside.

According to him, this made officers break into the house, and to their dismay, they found two bodies lying in a pool of blood. The lady was already dead having been shot at close range. However, Emmanuel was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

It is reported by LIB that the two have been dating for over a year now before the incident.

The reason for his actions is yet to be ascertained.

Upon investigation, it was discovered that the soldier has been using photos of Osama Bin Laden as his profile picture all this while.

In 2013, Emmanuel made his thoughts known regarding his plans to take a is own life. It wasn’t confirmed if he made this before or after joining the army.

Police are still investigating the matter while the two bodies have been deposited at the morgue.
