University of Jos Student Kidnapped on His Way to Repair Keyboard, Bandits Demand N30 Million.
Jos, Nigeria – A 300-level student of the University of Jos (Unijos), John Arum Azi, has been taken by bandits while traveling to Kaduna for a simple work appointment. His captors are demanding thirty million naira for his release.
The young man, who studies in the Department of Computer Science, had been invited by a client to come and repair a keyboard. He left his home in Jos to fulfill that promise, but he never made it to his destination.

According to sources close to the family, John boarded a vehicle from Jos heading toward Kaduna. Somewhere along the route, armed men stopped the vehicle and took everyone inside. All the passengers in that vehicle were kidnapped.
What has drawn public attention is a video that is now circulating widely on social media. In that footage, kidnappers are seen beating John Arum Azi with heavy sticks. He is on the ground, crying, and begging Nigerians to come to his aid. His voice breaks as he calls for help.

The kidnappers did not cover their faces in the video. They appear bold and unafraid. One social media user, reacting to the clip, wrote: “The kidnappers no longer cover their faces or fear the government again. Please, why is it difficult to track these men?”

Another user simply prayed: “May Almighty God free John Arum Azi and all others kidnapped with him today. Amen.”
Many others have shared similar prayers and calls for urgent action.
As of the time of filing this report, the Nigerian government and security agencies have not issued any statement regarding the incident. No official rescue operation has been confirmed, even though the kidnappers showed their faces clearly in the video.

John’s family is said to be in a very difficult situation. They are not wealthy, and thirty million naira is an amount far beyond what they can raise. Relatives have appealed to well-meaning Nigerians and the authorities to step in before it is too late.

This case has once again raised concerns about the growing confidence of criminal gangs operating on Nigerian highways. Many citizens are asking how people who openly show their faces in videos can remain free and untracked.

For now, John Arum Azi remains in captivity. His mother is said to be inconsolable. Friends and classmates have started an online campaign, sharing his picture and the video in hopes that someone in power will act.
