The Ondo State Security Network Agency, Code Named Amotekun, Has Arrested 98 Suspected Criminals Across the State.
The Ondo State Security Network Agency, better known as Amotekun, has taken 98 people into custody. The suspects are believed to be involved in various criminal activities happening across the state.
Officials of the corps confirmed the arrests in a statement released to newsmen. They said the operation covered several local government areas and lasted several days.
According to Amotekun sources, the suspects were caught in different locations. Some were picked up during routine patrols. Others were arrested following tips from members of the public.

The operation was not targeted at any particular crime. Instead, the corps went after a wide range of offenses. These include theft, breaking into homes, farm invasions, and possession of illegal weapons.
A commander who spoke on the condition of anonymity said the arrests were part of the agency’s ongoing effort to bring down crime rates in the state.

“When people see our vehicles moving around, they feel safer,” the source said. “But the real work happens when we get information from villagers and town folks. That is how most of these 98 were caught.”
All 98 suspects are currently being held at Amotekun facilities. The corps says it will screen them one by one. Those with clear cases to answer will be handed over to the police for further investigation and possible prosecution.
Amotekun officials also used the opportunity to send a message to anyone thinking of committing crimes in Ondo State. They said the agency is watching and will not hesitate to arrest anyone found breaking the law.
Some residents of the state have welcomed the news. In communities where farm theft and home break-ins have become common, the arrests have brought a sense of relief.
One farmer who gave his name as Mr. Kehinde said, “These people have been disturbing us for months. I am happy Amotekun finally caught many of them.”
However, a few others called for thorough investigations. They warned that innocent people should not be lumped together with real criminals.
Since it was created, the Amotekun corps has continued to play a bigger role in securing the Southwest region. The agency works alongside the police and other security forces. Its main focus is to respond quickly to security threats in local communities, especially in areas that regular police cannot reach easily.
With this latest arrest of 98 suspects, the agency has once again shown that it is serious about its job.
More updates on this story will be provided as the screening of the suspects continues.
